Shrine Newbie here!

Post by Eunice »

Hello! I'm new to shrines, though not new to fanlistings. Looking around, it struck me that shrines are rather like the old "Fixations". Does anyone remember those? The idea was, if I remember rightly, that they were like a fanlisting, and might have a clique attached, but had a lot of extra content. I rather liked Fixations and sad to see them go. So I'm glad I've "discovered" shrines!

I'm old enough to know better, married with a daughter, three hens and a cat (and a husband!) and spend far too much time messing about on't internet. And now I'm off to try building a shrine for the relationships challenge!

Welcome, Eunice! :D I'm glad you found your way here, especially with things you mentioned about Fixations. I have never heard of those myself... If there are any of those that are still up, or can be retrieved via Wayback Machine, I'd love to have a look. *-* Was that extra content more about fun/visitor extras, media compilation or information? :O

I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO WHAT YOU'LL BE MAKING FOR DYNAMIC DUOS WOOOOT, love that you want to plunge into it right away. *_*

Welcome, Eunice! I love to meet new newbies so welcome to the club!

"Shrines" have been around since 1998/1999 area and even though I have never heard of "Fixations", they do sound very similar. I'm looking forward to your upcoming shrine for the Dynamic Duos challenge! Best of luck! ♥ Please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the other staff if you need anything.

I am married with husband as well who, surprisingly(??), supports my site-making impulses. If I may ask, how old is your daughter? (And wouldn't it be neat to see a mother/daughter site-making duo!)

Welcome welcome! I just approved your Dynamic Duos signup and am really looking forward to what you'll build! :)

(I too am probably "old enough" to stop building fansites and shrines, but it's addictive, isn't it? :D )

Hello and welcome, Eunice! It's great to see people who are into fanlistings want to venture into shrines, as well. I remember Fixations; in fact, I think I even applied for one of my own! (I don't think I ever finished it, though, haha.) I'm looking forward to your first shrine! :yay:

Welcome to Amassment, Eunice!

I'm so happy to see fanlisting people coming over! We have a fanlistings board if you want to start small and expand one of your fanlistings.

Like Destinie said, let one of us know if there's anything you need! Glad Dynamic Duos caught your eye!

Welcome to Amassment! I think I might have seen some fixations in the past, but never really called them by that name, the description does sound familiar. Have fun making your new shrine! :D

Thank you for the lovely welcome! I'm now working on my first shrine, dedicated to Jemma Simmons of "Agents of SHIELD". A one-pager to cut my teeth on!
