I could never really see Link as an audience surrogate character since he 1. has an official name, 2. seems to already have enough personality that players can't necessarily transfer their own feelings. I could see Nintendo doing the Persona route but that would in turn make them minimalize and downplay the reactions of Link, making him seem more bored and one-dimensional.
The only problem I can really see (okay it's not much a problem but a major gripe) is that Nintendo may end up creating two versions with different sets of voice actors, and it will lead to annoying douchebag weeaboo fanboys griping, "OH EM GEE, THE JAPANESE VERSION IS SO MUCH BETTER AND THE ENGLISH VOICES SUCK BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT JAPANESE."

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I can see that happening... Though I would put up with it just to hear him. XD yes I'm that curious about what link would "officially" (English official) sound like.
Re: The Legend of Zelda
Sure the voice acting would be nice but not always necessary. I would be good if there was a voice narrator too. Guess it doesn't matter as long as the voices aren't squeaky or high pitched and go with character. I do request that Liam O'Brien be someone in the game. I just love his voice.
Also, you're welcome Crystal.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I'd personally like Link to stay as a silent protagonist. I don't necessarily feel he is an audience surrogate. He's like Mario in that Mario makes grunts and whoo-hoos, but he still has somewhat of his own personality separate from the audience. We're experiencing the story in their shoes. I would prefer there be no voice acting in the Zelda games aside from the haas and hyuhs that Link does while he fights and jumps.
Going a bit off topic, but I've gotten back into Wind Waker again because of CosmoWright, who is a world record holder of speed running this game. He's a really brilliant gamer and I really enjoy watching him. Wind Waker is one of my top favorites. I've almost beaten Majora's Mask, I just need to do one last dungeon and then the final boss. :) I really loved this game!

Re: The Legend of Zelda
So I *finally* managed to beat all the forms of the Imprisoned in Skyward Sword. Turns out that the last form is the least difficult HAHA.
So who has beaten Skyward Sword? (I'm so behind.) I'm curious how difficult Demise will be. :x

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I don't own it yet. But I do finally own a Wii now so I'm hoping to get it soon!
Re: The Legend of Zelda
Joy!! You have to get it soon! :) It's so good, I love it more than Ocarina of Time. Granted, it's lacking the catchy tunes, but I LOVE the Ballad of the Goddess. (Plus I'm partial because the game has everything I love from giant birds to talking dragons aha!)Crystal wrote:I don't own it yet. But I do finally own a Wii now so I'm hoping to get it soon!
Re: The Legend of Zelda
Haha, sounds like I will enjoy it. I can't wait to get myself a copy of it! :D
Re: The Legend of Zelda
I have. The fight is really tricky and I wouldn't have beaten him if my brother wasn't standing next to me feeding me spoilers against my will. >_> I do think he lives up to being the final boss because he's hard, but I actually thought thatDestinie wrote:So I *finally* managed to beat all the forms of the Imprisoned in Skyward Sword. Ghirahim's final form
The Imprisoned battles are only hard because there's a time limit in defeating him and you have to be pretty much good at throwing bombs in order to strike him down. I remember when I played I sometimes screwed up and I'd have to restart the battle because it was too late.
Also, Crystal, hooray! I hope you'll have fun with Skyward Sword. I feel like starting the hero mode because I was pretty disappointed at how easy the game was. I mean, I'm not the best player in the world but I found all the secrets to the game. o_O
Re: The Legend of Zelda
Oh noes! Well I have that to look forward to. When I fight bosses I usually get really twitchy and nervous. Haha~! Want more time to play soon. Also, can't wait for February when I get my copy of Hyrule Historia~♥
