Atheist - an Adil tribute

I'm still not well enough to actually write a shrine, but I am well enough to procrastinate on work-related business by putting the finishing touches on a shrine that had been complete since April.
Atheist: an Adil tribute
This is one of these minor characters that looks like he brings nothing to the table but if you stop and think about it he actually contributed a lot behind the scenes. I know Digital Devil Saga 2 is obscure, and Adil even more so, but don't let that deter you from reading!

Woa now, that was a surprise, and also a very interesting read. I never expected to see a shrine to a DDS character out there, much less a shrine to Adil -- heck, I had to google "Digital Devil Saga - Adil" to even remember who he was to be honest. My memory of his part in the story is really fuzzy because I never really... cared?? about his character lmao
The information on this character is very, very scarce and basic, so I'm amused at how far you managed to go without taking wild guesses -- mostly, I enjoyed your interpretation of how his behavior, shaped by the situation he is in, meant that he would lean towards atheism instead of accepting what was dictated by the Karma Society, something that, as far as I can remember, was never explicitly brought up in the game. I also loved your brief analysis on the DDS universe itself, with its subtle criticism on modern society, and how Adil becomes an important piece in building this environment.
Anyway, sorry for the tl;dr, I just figured you'd like to know what a fellow DDS fan actually thought since they're... pretty hard to come by lmaoo. Thank you for making this shrine too. Even though it's short, it brought to my attention once again what an intricate universe is DDS's. I guess that's why it's my favorite Megaten game
Oh! And by the way, do take it easy with your shrines!! I'm looking forward to what you'll show us next. But your health comes first! Take care

That's all right, I'm the one with the weird obsessions for obscure characters >> I'm glad you found it interesting! If I had all the time in the world, I would shrine more DDS characters, I love the games so much. I have plans for shrines to Gale, Seraph, Jenna Angel and of course the queer-friendly one I talked about already.
If you talk to Adil outside the Meat Processing Plan after the dungeon, he declares angrily while shaking his fist at the sky that "this Sun is no god of mine!", hence the atheism and the name of the shrine. I'm glad all the extra info about the world and such made for an interesting read!
Don't feel bad about tl;dr at me :D especially about DDS! And I care very much about your opinion since you know the character too, so thank you! DDS is also up there with Nocturne as my favourite Megaten, it's such a great unknown game.
I'm trying to take it easy, I swear! It's just that after a while without doing any fanworks I get inspired. It wasn't much inspiration this time around, I just had to make link buttons and finish the layout, but it's so hard to not be able to share my passion with you guys because of my stupid brain.

Lmao, I'm also on board the obscure fandoms train. Yeahh I've had a couple ideas of mine for shrines for DDS characters -- like a shrine to Argilla x Jinana, but I have a feeling that my projects are all a little
too gay, since that's not the only same-sex pairing I'm thinking of shrining lmaooo
I largely prefer the first game over the second. I felt the plot in DDS 2 was really rushed, and the world wasn't as open as in the first game, which made it
impossible to grind. And I never really got used to the mantra grid in the second game... so weird. I mastered DDS 1 in every aspect of it lmao, maxed the grid, defeated Demi-fiend, and all that, while I couldn't be bothered with DDS 2. AnywayYYY.
I don't really remember that line at all, maybe I didn't talk to him, maybe it didn't make much of an impression on me, but it's great that you picked that up. It's amazing how you took this one sentence and expanded it into an actual background for this character, when I didn't even think he had a background to start with

And I'm glad you're taking it slow. Don't be too hard on yourself if you feel you can't work right now, it's ok :)

Never enough recognition for non-hetero pairings in videogames, if you ask me, so go ahead and build your Argilla/Jinana shrine without fear!
I'm the opposite, actually! I preferred DDS2 because the characters were so damn awesome
and the deaths all made me cry so hard
. But as long as we love the series DDS, all is good :D also HOLY CRAP you defeated Demi-Fiend

I don't even have the courage to attempt that.
I can't wait to be better to make all the shrines. DDS and Nocturne need more shrines.

haha ha we'll see how that goes!
Actually yes, the characters were one of the pleasant features of DDS2.
I was in love with how the characters developped in DDS1 and it was really interesting seeing them after they had fully developped their emotions... and man the death scenes really were great (and shocking!).
HAHA yeAHHHH it took a whole damn lot of grinding, setting up a good strategy (since the strategies recommended in the walkthroughs weren't really my style), aaaaand countless game over screens, but I did it. It was really cool actually lmao!!!
I can't wait either!!! So get well and keep them coming!
