Layout Inspiration: One-Page Sites/Big Background Images

I've lately been enchanted with the idea of one-page sites, and specifically those with big, atmospheric background images (even GIFs), like http://www.teamnine.ch/screen.html. It's active without looking busy or stuffed full of info...really neat.

...'Course, I have no idea how to make a site like this actually work dynamically, but it's something I'm thinking about. (Here are my two takes on sheer HTML/CSS one-page sites thus far: /me and /novel.)

What do y'all think of this layout style? :)

One page websites are great. All my shrines start as one pager, it's easier you visualize the length, content and hierarchy like that.

AWESOME :) I never knew there was a term for it (except for "really cool one-page layout", lol). Definitely will check out the pure CSS version, because me and Javascript are mere acquaintances, lol

I really enjoy this style, too. I actually previously thought it was more limited to company websites, resumes or portfolios, but the first link to the one page love really has me thinking otherwise.

I totally understand what you mean, CLB. Hell I can't figure out some jQuery for Bootstrap to make cool tooltips. CSS all the way!

Yep! At least CSS makes sense. With Javascript I spend half the time wondering "What exactly does that line of code even DO?" LOL
