What are the important '90s kids shows from cable TV?

I ask this because I was one of those kids in the '90s who had exactly ZERO access to cable (nothing but rabbit ears was offered in my area, and that's still the way it is). Thus, I missed all the stuff on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, etc.--all the references that 90s kids are apparently supposed to know backwards and forwards, lol.

(I don't mean to give the impression that my childhood was joyless, however! I just watched network stuff like Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, classic Looney Tunes, a HUGE selection of PBS Kids shows, and even stuff like Star Trek: TNG, Rescue 911, Unsolved Mysteries, and NOVA. :D)

I used to watch all the Disney series, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc.

COOL :D I remember some of those--I think they finally started showing those on network TV in maybe '94-'95, somewhere around there?

Networks in our area neverrrr showed Rugrats, Invader Zim, Ren & Stimpy, Dexter's Laboratory, or Hey Arnold!, but they did run Doug for a while-- '97 to '01, to the best of my memory. (But these were always on at butt o' clock in the morning when I was fighting for my last few precious minutes of sleep before school, LOL)

I love Invader Zim! I also watched Rugrats, the sequel, Hey Arnold, Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Jungle cubs, Talespin, Tazmania... I never like Ren & Stimpy, Catdog or Rocko, I prefer cute art styles. Never got into Doug either. I watched the Hercules Disney series too, though Aladdin was my favorite Disney series.

We didn't have cable in the early '90's... Friends of my dad had it, but their son and I were always playing Mario, Final Fantasy II (IV), Wrestlemania or Street Fighter on the SNES, so I don't remember much... I think it was finally offered in our area (I lived in the country, yaaayyy~!) sometime in 1995, right before my parents split. Nickelodeon was always on thanks to my siblings (who weren't even in school yet). Blue's Clues, Rugrats, and various other preschooler shows were constantly on ( and my immature self at the time LOVED to talk back to the TV... :x Being an aunt, I resist the urge to do it. Gotta set the example for my niece and nephew. ). Rocko's Modern Life was my favorite, along with Angry Beavers. :D I guess I just liked silly stuff...

I would hear all the other kids at school talking about these TV shows I'd never heard of, but we could never get them at my house because all the cable companies. didn't think it was worth their time to install cable out where houses are almost a quarter-mile apart. Arg. (And trees/crazy North Carolina weather make satellite a non-option, sadly)

At least AT&T finally saw the sense in installing U-Verse Internet out my way...took 'em about a decade, but they did it. (Otherwise I'd still be on 46.6 kbps dialup, ughhhhh) But now I can use internets to catch up on all these old shows! :D

I don't know what constitutes as a cable show because we just had terrestrial channels which had a lot of imported stuff along with shows made here. We did get Nickleoden when I was a bit older though! I loved Sister Sister. :D I also watched a lot of Rugrats, X-Men, that Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, As Told By Ginger, Chip n' Dale, Clarissa, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Saved by the Bell, Darkwing Duck and so on.

I was always so jealous of people with the Disney Channel. I'm a grown adult and I'm still jealous of people with the Disney Channel tbh.

But my all time favourite show growing up was the Animals of Farthing Wood. :D

I never heard of Animals of Farthing Wood, though! I'll have to look into that--sounds like something I would have enjoyed as a kid even if I didn't remember the title. :D

I wasn't into the old Xmen, the lineart and shadows were so dark, I just wasn't into the style and art style is a big factor for me in animation, which is what got me into the cuteness of anime at first. I did like Xmen Evolution. As Told by Ginger was super fun, watched the whole series too and the movies. I watched a bit of Darkwing and Saved by the Bell every now and then. Loved Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers.

The american Sonic, the one with just Sonic and Tails as the mains? I have such memories about it. I saw that long before I saw the freedom figthers version with Sally, Bunny and Antoine. The english version came on as I was leaving for school and I couldn't watch much, as I was dragged off just as the opening ended. Fortunently, I had international cable, so I could watch the latin America version which aired later, after school. Unfortunetly, the dubbers got confused about Tails gender and for the longers time I thought Colitas (literally "little tails" in spanish) was a girl. I even shipped "her" and Sonic as a child. XD

Some of my earliest memories are of the Little Bits anime English dub on Nickelodeon and the Noozles anime Spanish dub (they called it Sandy y sus Koalas) on a channel from Spain. I later watched Flash Kicker and a portion of Slayers there as well, (then I watched all the Slayers series in English but that was online). There was also this Mexican sitcom, Chavo del 8 that I thought was hilarious. They animated it years later, but I still say the original live action version was much funnier.

There was an animal show with wolves, dingos and bears I watched, but can't remember the name, it wasn't a favorite though. I did like the PawPaw bears, they were old but super cute.

It was British and based on a series of books about a group of animals that band together after their home is destroyed to journey to a nature reserve. It was my favourite thing growing up. :D The books, the show, the weekly magazine they released. I taped all the episodes on VHS and rewatched them over and over until the tapes stopped working...lmao I was such a geeky child.

I really liked X-Men Evolution too! I was a bit older watching that. The original cartoon had more of an impact on me. :D (although now, I think Evolution has aged better, I tried to rewatch the original cartoon on Netflix and it does NOT hold up omg. it's RIDICULOUS. Theme song is still great though.

I really want to watch As Told By Ginger now. :D I must see if it's available online.

You know, I'm trying to remember WHICH Sonic I watched and I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure it was both - the one with just Sonic and Tailes and the one with the rest. I remember Sally for sure. I was trying to find out by looking at this but they showed a lot of Sonic apparently. (The Den was basically my childhood. And then on the weekends there was Live and Kicking and SMTV LIVE...children these days are just missing out.)
