Making a Directory-ish Thingie of Collectives

Following the completion of my links site's Explore page, and all its collectives and personal blogs listed therein, I got a great suggestion from awesome boyfriend. He suggested that I make notes about what each collective was about, topic-wise, so that it both broke up the long list of links and let visitors know ahead of time what each domain was about.

I did that this afternoon, ending up with an owner/creator name and a list of keywords for each collective, in this format:

WithinMyWorld.org
- Owner: Robin
- Subjects: Anime, Books, Movies, Comics, Western Animation, Blogging, etc.

But I started thinking--what if people could sort the list of collectives and blogs by what type of content they're interested in? For instance, they could click on the keyword "Anime," and the list would only display collectives with the keyword "Anime," sorted alphabetically.

Is such a thing feasible, or already made? I'm pretty sure a MySQL database could handle the keywords, links, and everything, but aside from that, I would have no idea how to build a PHP script to retrieve that info with clicks. (I was wondering if Enthusiast or another fanlisting-type script would work, even...just not sure how much code-rewriting I would have to do to make it work.) That and my last foray into using MySQL databases ended up with me having to clean up an apparent injection of spam through a search form, so I know I'd have to be careful...just want to make things fancier/easier if I can. xD

OOOO AWESOME :D I had never heard of NinjaLinks, but this looks like exactly what I was thinking of! :D

(yay now I can be lazy and not reinvent the wheel xD)

Why reinvent the wheel when there are awesome people offering their hard work in exchange for credit? :)

RIGHT?!?! XD (especially when one sucks like an Electrolux at writing backend code ^_^;)

Awesome! I may have to hit both of y'all up for advice if I get stuck on the code. (But let's be real, that should be a "when," not an "if." xD

AW COOL :D Let us know how that develops--that sounds like it'll be a great resource when it's finished!

(And I still haven't implemented any of NinjaLinks because my brain keeps resisting it--I usually spend 90% of my time banging my head against a code wall when I'm learning a new framework, so not looking forward to that. xD)
