Joker's Wild: Liar Game

(BE CAREFUL, FONTS LOOK UGLY IN FIREFOX AS USUAL.)

I've finished revamping my oldest and very first shrine from 2012. :D It got a complete makeover (it had looked quite retro), and I've edited a good amount of sentences when rereading the entire thing. I've also renamed the shrine; it used to be Prisoner's Dilemma just in case you're confused.

Since I don't want to be stuck forever with old limiting PSP8, I've been trying to work more with PS... So far, it's mostly just superficial image manipulation and text-setting. =x At least I've learned how I can change the looks of patterns, so that opens me up to more patterns to match images with in the future. :D :D Overall, I'm happy with the learning experience while revamping this!

Thanks so much to Laura, dubiousdisc and Megan A for miscellaneous input. <3

Let me know if anything doesn't work or is hard to read!

(I'm going to finish making buttons tomorrow, it's late now lol.)

I'm using Firefox but I think that the font is just great, Lethe, so don't you worry! :D I see that you maintained a dark layout as your previous ones and I love it, especially the section divider; I must learn to do that someday! :D

I most enjoyed reading through the game and players sections! :) It's sorta interesting and I can really see how the theme of trust and doubt can be portrayed well in this kind of plot/storyline; it reminds me sorta like the Hunger Games but with cash and more sinister events. :P

Congrats on the revamp of your first shrine btw! :D My first (and only) shrine also needs a revamp haha! XD

oh man this is really good Lethe, oh boy...

I am not familiar with Liar's Game at all (although it does sound like something I could be interested in, if I were ever interested in manga), but I had already stalked it before and seeing the improvement from the old layout to the new is incredible. Nevermind the fact that I loved every bit of the old layout, this one is even better somehow -- I specially love what you did for the players section and the choice of fonts. So creative and fun!!!!!

Also I'd like to take a moment to say that I love how you coordinate different text styles, not only in this site specifically, but in all of your sites. Man. I'm always so indecisive about styling bold and italics and quotes... your typography is really cohesive and inspiring. It seems like a small detail, but it really makes an impact on the entire presentation.

It's actually 4am in the morning and I've spent the last 8 hours frantically working on my college thesis, so I'm currently too exhausted to... read the shrine lmao I'm sorry... I did skim through a few bits here and there that caught my eye -- like the players portion, which is really fun to read through. I'll come back to you after I've had a few good hours of sleep and some strong coffe tho!!! :-)

All in all, I just want to say congrats on finishing your revamp, and that it looks gorgeous and this post is just me drooling all over your layout ok thats the entire purpose of this post

Maybe I just live in my own Firefox nightmare... This is what Firefox shows me, and the text is incredibly choppy across all my shrines when viewed in Firefox, sob. I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff and what affects how fonts are rendered for different people, then I could just drop that one line about font rendering on my index pages. LOL

@mishiro: Oh look, it's Mishiroooooooooo. <3 <3 Thanks so much for paying my shrine a visit! And yes, I love stories with game elements to them. :D

If you want to try out the divider thing: The section dividers are full-width divs with a specified height, and the page alternates between content divs and divider divs. :>

I want to see your revaaaaaaaamp, join uuuuuuuuuusssss. <O><O>

@high seraph: omggggg thank you so much for your lengthy comment AT 4 AM WTF!! I'm glad you have kind words for the previous layout too... ;_; <3 There are bits of it that I still love.

Youuuuu might be interested in Liar Game if you enjoyed Virtue's Last Reward ahaha, prisoner's dilemma and all. (Then again, if you rarely read manga, there are plenty of other series to try first haha...)

And asdjkalsdjaljsdl your comment on the typography on my other sites aaaaahh. /o\ THANK YOU, that means so much to me!! I've been slightly reducing the amount of bold and italic styling on my recent shrines because I have the suspicion that I overdid it in my earlier shrines. Still, I think they're great to mark key points/messages or the start of a new subject (or a different aspect) within a paragraph. A big inspiration are study books, so just think about what would be useful to visually emphasize to readers! The rest of my approach is... "This needs more colours!!" & "QUOTES EVERYWHERE"

Don't worry about not having time and energy to read the shrine right away - I appreciate you commenting all the more. :D I know there's probably some internal pressure for many to absorb the entirety of a shrine first before commenting, but everyone should just go at their pace and comment on things they want to comment, anytime. <3

I hope your college thesis is looking good!!! :music2:

(Eagerly awaiting the next opportunity for me to drool over your stuff.)

/incoherent blather about the layout and design

omg Lethe your sites always remind me of what people without ADHD and focus problems can accomplish with regards to DETAILS. EVERYTHING IS JUST LIKE ENDED OFF SO NICELY AND AHHHHH MY BRAIN NEVER WANTS TO FOCUS ON THOSE TINY THINGS sldkjfalskjdfajsdfkjsdf

In all seriousness, though, it looks great in BOTH Chrome and Firefox! (I use Firefox primarily)

I'm using Firefox and the fonts don't at all look like what I'm seeing in the image. They're a lot smoother to me.

Other than that this looks amazing! I really like the dividers for each section and the use of cards throughout the shrine. I love it!

I really love this site, Lethe!! You genuinely got me interested in Liar Game. There's just enough information on your site to get someone interested without spoiling any of the series. I think you have all the important things covered too, everything one person needs to know when they get into the series. It's lovely!

I also love the casino aspect you've worked hard to implement through each section. The card faces for the character profiles are amazing and I love the subtle things like the links changing to a money green when you hover over them. x3 I'm also a fan of your typography layouts. <3 Everything always looks so neatly coordinated and organized~

;_; <3

Thanks for the Firefox comments, everyone. This came up in the chat the other day and... I guess it just wildly varies in all instances for some reason sigh. Oh well!

@Robin: Thank you, Robin!! I'm glad the elements in my layout make a harmonic whole in your eyes; I tried hard to do the one page format justice with this one!

@Crystal: Thank you for your visit, Crystal! <3 <3 <3

@Laura: Hehe glad to have caught your interest! Thanks so much for your feedback, and generally for having being there to prevent me from making bad design choices with this layout. LOL (God, the green at first...) :music: :star:

Yay the new layout and site look great. I always really like these types of series shrines because it's a great introduction to the series, especially if it's not a really popular one with a lot of info available. :inlove:

I also really like the section dividers and how you covered all the topics, especially the "Themes and Symbols" section.

Thank you, Masao! <3 Yesssssssss, need more shrines to obscure stuff!! :!: :music: I love introducing things via themes, so I'm glad you like that section in particular. :D <3
